This yellow rose is #2 in my rose portrait series. It is a South African rose grown in my garden in East Texas. And it smells like a rose too! Painted in soft pastels on pastel paper.

As a child, I longed to be an artist. Having been raised in a family of singers and musicians, I gained an appreciation for all of the arts. I attended Principia College in Elsah, Illinois, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, both Studio and Art History. During my senior year, I studied art, architecture, and sculpture via the great masterpieces in England, France, Holland, Germany, and Italy. Loving to draw and loving color, pastels turned out to be in perfect harmony with my work in landscapes, still life’s and animal portraits.
