While staying at a friend's lake house, I took a photo of these wonderful, colorful gourds on her patio furniture, illuminated by early morning sun light. It took me many hours to complete this, and I love the deep reds and purples. This painting will always remind me of a beautiful morning on Lake Cypress Springs in East Texas.
As a child, I longed to be an artist. Having been raised in a family of singers and musicians, I gained an appreciation for all of the arts. I attended Principia College in Elsah, Illinois, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, both Studio and Art History. During my senior year, I studied art, architecture, and sculpture via the great masterpieces in England, France, Holland, Germany, and Italy. Loving to draw and loving color, pastels turned out to be in perfect harmony with my work in landscapes, still life’s and animal portraits.
